The Great Plantation is a flat area of wood and heathland at the most easterly corner of the parish, adjacent to Drumbridges roundabout. The Templar Way (route of the granite tramway from Haytor to Stover canal) passes through in a circuitous but well marked route. The plantation is a haven for birds, moths and butterflies, and is one of the few remaining habitats for the great crested newt.  Deer, squirrels and stoats may also be seen.

The Great Plantation can be accessed from the Cummings Cross to Bovey Road, Exeter Cross, Drumbridges roundabout or Bovey Straight (near garage).
