|Halford is one of the ancient hamlets of
Ilsington parish. It is situated on the edge of Ilsington Heathfield
where the villagers had the rights to graze their geese.
|Close by is Candy Farm - it is said that William Candy, a travelling musician, settled at this farm about 1715 and farmed it until his death in 1727. He bequeathed it to the parish for the relief of the poor. Profits from the farm are paid out to provide "Candy Coats" and Christmas gifts for the old and needy.|
